This 17th-century Venetian oil painting, likely created for private devotion, draws inspiration from Guido Reni's grand 1608 fresco, "St. Andrew Led to Martyrdom," in Rome. An anonymous artist adapted Reni's intricate scene, focusing on the four central figures and depicting Saint Andrew's profound adoration of the cross. The apostle kneels, hands joined in prayer, accepting his impending death with unwavering faith. While Reni's original fresco featured an X-shaped cross, this smaller version employs a Latin cross, a detail common in Northern art that supports its Venetian attribution. The cross, brought from the background to the foreground
