The central figure of the Madonna kneels, her hands clasped in prayer, her gaze cast downwards in tender adoration towards the Christ Child. He is cradled gently by a cluster of angels to her left, their golden halos and garments adding a luminous quality to the composition. This tempera and gold on wood panel, dating to circa 1460, was produced by an imitator of Fra Filippo Lippi. It closely mirrors the lost central panel of a triptych commissioned by the powerful Medici family in 1457. A tranquil hilly landscape recedes into the background, while the foreground boasts a vibrant meadow dotted with flowers and an open book. This piece, embodying the grace of the Early Renaissance
