The painting presents a still life arrangement of apples, divided into two distinct clusters. In the upper section, three apples-two predominantly yellow-green and one reddish-are set against a blue-grey surface. Below, a larger collection of six apples, displaying similar hues of yellow, green, and red-orange, rests on a lighter, possibly beige, surface. A sliver of the blue-grey material is visible behind them. Paul Cézanne, working between 1878 and 1879, masterfully employs thick, visible brushstrokes to render the robust forms and volumes of the fruit. This technique gives each apple a tangible solidity and weight. The interplay of light and shadow
