A vibrant, luminous quality defines this painting, where soft, warm light exquisitely illuminates the central figures, highlighting Lavinia's radiant skin and the rich, flowing drapery in a bright palette. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo created this oval oil on canvas between 1753-1754 as part of a six-scene mythological series for Venice's Palazzo Barbaro. Designed to be viewed from below, its "di sotto in sù" perspective brings the main figures and marble columns forward, almost beyond the picture plane, with a balustrade subtly receding behind them. The artwork depicts a key moment from Virgil's Aeneid: the kneeling Aeneas offering a ring to Lavinia
