This tondo, created in Florence during the latter half of the 15th century, exemplifies the artistic production sought after for private residences of the period. Cosimo Rosselli, a prominent Florentine master active from 1439 to 1507, painted this Adoration of the Christ Child between approximately 1485 and 1507. Executed in oil and tempera on panel, the scene depicts Mary and Joseph adoring the newborn Christ, attended by angels. Its circular design and vibrant palette showcase the Florentine mastery of form and color, while also hinting at Rosselli's engagement with contemporary Flemish painting. This piece would bring a serene Renaissance elegance to a living room or a quiet study.
