An angel with large, soft wings gently kisses the forehead of a seated man, who rests his head on his hand, seemingly lost in thought or slumber. The figures are bathed in a warm, subdued light within a dark, intimate interior. A small window in the upper left corner offers a glimpse of bright blue sky, providing a subtle contrast to the overall somber palette. This early oil painting by Paul Cézanne, dating to circa 1859-1860, showcases a more classical and allegorical side of the artist before his groundbreaking contributions to modern art. Its serene and introspective mood would complement a quiet reading nook or a sophisticated living room.
