The early 16th century in the Low Countries saw a rise in devotional paintings depicting the extended Holy Family. This oil on panel, created around 1520-1530 and attributed to the Master of the Lille Adoration, presents the Holy Kinship. Mary holds the Christ Child, while Saint Anne, Mary's mother, sits beside them, engrossed in an open book on her lap. A central bowl of fruit grounds the sacred scene in everyday life, a common detail in such works. This painting is a copy of a central panel by Dirck Vellert and depicts the 'Anna selbdritt' motif
