A soft, luminous light permeates this captivating forest landscape, casting a gentle glow over the scene and creating a sense of tranquil depth. The rich, earthy palette of Joris van der Haagen's oil on canvas, painted around 1660, emphasizes the dense foliage and the calm surface of the pond. Here, figures are seen bathing, with some shepherds drying themselves on the bank, while cattle graze nearby.
