Jan van Huysum's Arcadian Landscape with Fishermen, painted between 1700 and 1749, benefits immensely from its copper support. This choice allowed the artist to achieve a remarkably smooth and shiny finish, enhancing the delicate details of the scene. The painting depicts an idyllic landscape, rich with classical ruins and figures engaged in pastoral activities and angling, characteristic of Arcadian scenes. Originally conceived as a small gem for an art lover's collection, it exudes a timeless serenity. This piece would bring a refined sense of classical calm to any elegant living space.
