Paul Cézanne's approach to this study, executed between 1900 and 1906, is evident in the interplay of watercolor and pencil on paper. The composition, depicting numerous bathers in a landscape with a bridge, is initially defined by light, gestural pencil lines. Over these foundational strokes, Cézanne applied translucent washes of watercolor, building up form and suggesting depth with a luminous, almost atmospheric quality. Blues, greens, and yellows dominate, blending seamlessly to evoke water and foliage, while the bridge provides a central structural element. This combination of drawing and painting creates a sense of immediacy and vibrant energy
