A significant example of Dutch Golden Age art, this large oil painting by Ferdinand Bol was conceived as a wall decoration for a private home. Executed between 1660 and 1663, it formed part of a five-piece cycle for a residence in Utrecht. The scene captures Abraham kneeling, in the act of serving the three angels he has hosted, offering water to wash their feet. Two angels are seated at a table, while in the background, partially concealed in a doorway, Sarah listens to the remarkable prophecy of her future motherhood. This detailed oil on canvas brings a sense of historical grandeur and narrative richness to any classic interior or study.
