Gold is the texture that warms a room. The material is coated with a layer of golden mica which, unlike silver, does not cool the space but lights it: the reflection is softer, older, closer to gold leaf than to polished metal. Colour printed over a gilded ground changes nature. Reds go deeper, greens turn towards the forest, blacks pick up a warmth they would never have on white paper. Wherever the design leaves the ground exposed, the gold comes through and draws the light. It is the natural choice for styles that live on ornament: botanical patterns, chinoiserie, art deco motifs, fresco reproductions and anything that needs a precious base to avoid looking flat. The material is light and breathable and you paste the wall to hang it, so the dramatic result does not complicate the installation. Like every precious material, it gives more when used sparingly: one wall, an alcove, the back of a bookcase, the head of the bed.
