By the mid-1880s, Paul Cézanne had fully embraced landscape painting, a genre he began exploring in the early 1870s after moving away from studio-based figural compositions and still lifes. His early experiences painting alongside Camille Pissarro in Pontoise and Auvers between 1872 and 1873 had solidified his deep connection to the French countryside. This 1885 oil on canvas, "The Bridge at Maincy," depicts a sturdy stone bridge spanning a river, flanked by dense green foliage and distant buildings, all rendered with vibrant reflections on the water's surface. Cézanne's distinctive brushwork builds the scene's structure and form
