Soft, luminous light defines the features of this young woman, highlighting her fair complexion and rosy cheeks, while her white cap, adorned with blue ribbons and red flowers, stands out against a subdued background. The palette of gentle pastels, notably the flowing blue drapery, creates a sense of lightness and elegance. This oil on canvas, painted by François Boucher in the early 1730s, was once misidentified before being definitively attributed to the artist in 2011. It represents a rare survival from Boucher's early career, being one of only two known oil studies of this kind by the Rococo master. Its serene charm would enhance a bright living area or a quiet study.
