This lively genre scene depicts a group of figures engaged in the butchering of a pig in an outdoor setting, nestled between rural sheds. A woman extends a glass of beer to the main figure, the butcher, while to the right, children are at play, one boy comically inflating a pig's bladder. On the left, a servant and a maid observe the activity. Painted by Jan Victors in 1648, this oil on canvas offers a vivid glimpse into 17th-century Dutch daily life. It would make a compelling addition to a rustic kitchen or a traditionally styled dining area.
